Account Director, Glasgow 

Our client is an award-winning public relations and communications company, based in the centre of Glasgow. They work with some amazing clients as well as offering a great place to work, working with a highly experienced team.

Our client is unusual in that they exist to help organisations whose purpose it is to improve lives and transform futures.  The client base is full of organisations that are making a sustainable difference to the world, in health and life sciences, economic development and technology , through to the built environment.

Due to a period of growth they are now seeking an Account Director - someone to lead, motivate and manage specialist teams to deliver high quality results-focused campaigns.  The role will work with some excellent clients in a business with exceptionally high levels of retention, referral and client satisfaction. 

Key responsibilities

  • Developing, leading and implementing PR. Communications and social media strategies for clients to help them achieve their organisational goals within the allocated resources and budget
  • Briefing team, keeping them informed and motivated throughout campaigns to deliver agreed client results
  • Providing strategic counsel to clients, including crisis communications and issues management
  • Lead role in building and maintaining positive relationships with clients which results in strong client retention levels and referrals
  • Being strong positive ambassador amongst clients, potential clients, influencers and stakeholders in person and online
  • Contributing to new business activities including tenders
  • Developing, managing and mentoring relevant team members

About you

The ideal person will be an experienced communications professional, with strong commercial awareness and proven track record of helping achieve business and organisational goals through effective PR, communications, and social media campaigns.

You will bring experience of being the lead for client accounts in the built environment, life sciences/health, economic development and technology which are improving lives and transforming futures. A track record of nurturing client relationships at senior level, focusing on understanding their businesses, challenges, and goals is essential. You will also be able to demonstrate balancing multiple clients,  developing, leading and managing the delivery of agreed effective client campaigns.  Great evidence of being highly effective and creative along with delivering these campaigns on time and within budget is critical, along with achieving desired communications goals and making a key contribution to desired client outcomes. 

Your experience will include creating and delivering successful media relations, social media and digital campaigns, crisis communications and reputation management, and effective stakeholder engagement to support client goals.

A minimum ten years’ communications work experience in a PR, communications, and social media role.  Experience of working in an agency and delivering successful results on behalf of clients is desired but not essential.

  • Excellent presentation skills, with proven track record of winning new business pitches
  • Track record of implementing creative and successful PR, social and digital media campaigns

  • Flexible can-do attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Driving licence and access to a car for work
