Interim Fleet Re-Leasing Manager, Derby

6 month fixed term maternity cover

Porterbrook Leasing Company specialises in the leasing and asset management of passenger and freight railway rolling stock and associated equipment.  Based in Derby with a corporate Head Office in London, the organisation is undertaking a period of transformational change as it responds to the changing landscape in rail and is taking an active lead in the industry in terms of innovation. The ability to respond to the changing needs of the rail industry is critical to the long-term success at Porterbrook and the Fleet Re-leasing Manager is a key role in being able to achieve this.

This is an interim 6 month fixed maternity cover position and will be accountable for key parts of the re-leasing process working in collaboration with other parts of the business.  Key will be the ability to convert the opportunity into a re-lease offer in the shortest possible time, whilst minimising risks to the business. The main responsibilities are:

New Lease Offers:

  • For each lease offer, liaise with other members of the Commercial team and the wider business to create a summary and costs for -
    • modifications and capital investments required
    • future maintenance requirements
  • Provide technical input to the Procurement team

Re-leasing of Fleets:

  • Support the creation of compelling bid-strategy documents
  • address technical questions from customers and technical information

Fleet Strategies:

  • Support the development of fleet strategies, potential re-lease scenarios and the maintenance and modification implications for each.
  • Ensure a library of fleet information is kept up to date. This will include:
    • Collation of internal layouts and capacities;
    • Details of fleet technical performance;
    • Details of sub-systems fitted (included supplier details and specification);

Our ideal candidate will have fleet engineering and commercial experience in a role within the rail supply chain, operating company or rolling stock leasing business. It is expected they will have great organisational and communication skills together with financial and budgeting awareness.   It is critical that you have the skills to hit the ground running.

 

We are looking for a Chartered Engineer or someone working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer, with a minimum of 3 years Traction and Rolling Stock experience. Alternatively, a detailed knowledge of the rail industry, with appropriate Traction and Rolling Stock experience, together with HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering will be considered.
