General Manager (Production) – c£50k plus bonus Kilmarnock (more for exceptional candidates)

 Rainbow HR are delighted to be working with Stag Aluminium (part of The Kaliber Group) to recruit a General Manager for their manufacturing site in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.  This is a fabulous opportunity for someone to run and grow the business to its full potential.

 The Kaliber Group is privately owned, with a £9m turnover, comprising 4 successful businesses, which provide the trade with niche and premium quality glazing products.  The ambition is to double the size of the Kaliber Group within 5 years and Stag Aluminium plays an integral part in this with the current £1m turnover moving to £3m in 3 years

The role of General Manager is to lead a team of 20 highly experienced and loyal staff, many of whom have been with the business for over 15 years.  There is the potential to develop the General Manager into Managing Director, therefore this represents a superb career growth opportunity.

 The role is accountable as follows:

    • lead and motivate the production and operations teams to increase output significantly over the next 3-5 years
    • manage the change required to deliver the business growth across all aspects of the business including processes and production arrangements seeking to deliver an effective and efficient business run to exacting high standards
    • contribute to the strategic direction of the company
    • develop the Stag production and operations teams to meet the future needs of the business
    • lead the company to ensure they manufacture, deliver and install the highest quality products, safely and in line with agreed business processes ensuring that the business operates effectively  and effectively
    • develop the team to ensure they reach their full potential, through the provision of coaching and training
    • collaborate closely with the Kaliber Group Board to ensure the business plan is aligned to growth and will deliver the targeted turnover and profit
    • assist in developing the annual financial plan, including operating and capital expenditure

Our ideal candidate will come with:

  • 5 years+ experience in a production management role, within an SME manufacturing
  • experience in the manufacture of doors and windows or closely associated products
  • hands-on, collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build strong mutually beneficial relationships
  • experience of change management, particularly within more traditional or family-owned organisations

Salary will be circa £50,000 plus a range of benefits including a 10% profit share scheme, although for exceptional candidates the salary may be negotiated.  The role is Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm and reports to the Chair of the business.
