Reporting to the Director of Engineering Services, the new role of Programmes Director will be accountable for the successful management and delivery of a complex range of engineering projects linked to innovation and business as usual.  The role will be required to develop the Programme Management function, leading the team of Engineering Project Managers and the PMO Co-Ordinator.  This position will develop the existing project management methodology into a robust programme and project management system and ensure that all project are managed in line with this.  The programme management team manages all aspects of the project portfolio including business case creation, resourcing, management of risks, project reporting, stakeholder management, issues escalation and once implemented, benefits realisation.   The Programme of work include large scale initatives including the roll out of the FLEX products and ETCS fitment projects, along with specific projects to deliver product upgrades and innovations.

This is a superb opportunity not only to deliver the programme portfolio with some industry leading initatives but also to develop and create a programme management function in line with best practice. We are looking for a highly skilled individual to lead this activity, which is a priority area for the business.  Ideal candidates will come from an engineering project and/or programme management background and will have successfully led a complex portfolio of change projects on time and to budget. Experience in the UK rail industry is desirable, but not mandatory. The candidate profile is an individual with exceptional gravitas and professionalism, coupled with an engaging manner.  An engineering degree and/or a project or programme management qualification is required, along with exceptional attention to detail and organisational capability.  You will be exceptionally driven with high levels of commercial acumen and resilience.
