Learning and Development Manager, Derby , 4 days a week
Porterbrook Leasing Company specialises in the leasing and asset management of passenger and freight railway rolling stock and associated equipment. Reporting to the Head of HR, the Learning and Development Manager will lead the delivery of the learning and development strategy for Porterbrook to ensure that all staff are developed to reach their full potential, whilst ensuring that all the necessary frameworks are in place to support a high-performance culture and the organisational values. The role will support the business in its aspiration to become a Platinum level Investor in People organisation. Key elements of the role will include the creation of a competency framework, initiatives to embed the organisational values and behaviours, team building programmes and soft skills training. In addition, the role holder will design and deliver training initiatives to meet the development needs arising from personal development plans.
Th ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in education, human resources or a related field with appropriate membership of an accredited body, ideally CIPD; experience of using a HRIS such as PeopleHR is also helpful.
You must demonstrate a track record in building learning and development strategies along with designing and executing successful training programmes, including programmes for those with high potential, management and leadership development and soft skills and be able to deliver a programme of blended learning. This is a role which offers a great balance between strategy setting and hands on delivery, supported by administrative support.
As you would expect excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively is required along with excellent presentation and public speaking skills to complement your written presentation skills. A background in rail or engineering would be a distinct advantage.
